Spotlight on Emily

Emily found out that markers draw on doors and walls.

She also found out that cleaning up what she drew was not as fun as drawing it.

Anybody that knows Emily knows she likes to live life on the edge.

And that she wants to follow in her daddy's shoes.

We thought with the buttons on top the water cooler would be safe from Emily. We were wrong.

After a long day of playing it's time for a nap.

1st House: Week 3

Emily takes a look out the window to scope out the neighborhood.

Here is the front of our house. It actually looks like a house now with the front door (we still need a garage door). You can see how close we are to our neighbor.

The view from the master bedroom. We chose a lot with a walk path between lots which will help since we won't be looking down in to the neighbor's yard.

The living room and front door. Emily really enjoyed the acoustics of the room with bare walls and cement floors. She also enjoyed the openness by running around in circles.

The kitchen and dining room. It will look better once they get the cabinets in.

Our small back yard. Just big enough for small kids to be sent outside to play. We are planning on mostly grass with a small patio right outside the door. We may put a small garden along the wall in the small part of the yard (some would consider it a walkway).

First House: Week 2

These pictures are from last week (18th), just 2 weeks after they started on the foundation. As you can see, we nearly have a roof. There is not too much space between our house and the neighbors.

Not much of a back yard either. The part behind the garage is bigger. We are getting excited to be able to move in soon. As of now it looks like the beginning of August.

It's been a week since we were out there but the builder called and said that the dry wall is up and taped and that they should be painting the outside next week.

One of Those Kids

You know those kids who you can't turn your back on for 5 secs because they might just do something crazy...well this is what one of those children looks like when they are just beginning their life long pursuit of driving their mother crazy!

As if it isn't infuriating enough to lose total control of your child, she has to rub it in with a portentous grin.

Climbing on top of a box is harmless enough...but take notice of the church bag and its contents strewn about the floor at her feet.

Most of her climbing stunts require assistance with the dismount...so we let her stay here a minute to teach her a lesson...that by the way didn't work.

No comment here.

This one I claim as being my fault. We were very bored one Sunday and so I put some rice in a bowl and gave her some shovels. I thought she would just run it though her fingers or dig....

...or she could end up in the bowl and the rice on the floor. BTW...Does anyone know if it is harmful to eat uncooked rice?

Emily can fool most with her cute outer skin, but spend some time cleaning up after her while trying to save her from certain death and you will understand why when I look at her I see an adorable little wrecking ball. :)

First House: 1 Week Later

The builder has made a lot of progress on our house in just a week. Here is the living room and kitchen from the front door.

The electricians were there finishing up the electrical wiring while we were there.

Our First House

It's not much to look at right now but here is the beginning of our new house. The foundation was poured on June 4th. They have started framing already (we have not been out there since the 4th) and should be completely done with the house end of July, beginning of August, which is a lot sooner than we thought.

We were unable to get Emily to pose in these pictures.

A New Love

Emily tries any kind of food and will eat just about everything, but she definitely has her favorites. A new found favorite is watermelon. Her mother (being a watermelon lover herself, and having not influenced her at all) could not be more pleased.

If anyone is wondering...watermelon does stain.

Notice how she eats right down to the rind. She hasn't quite learned the proper technique.

Little Explorer

Emily and her friend decide to explore the backyard. Which way do we go?

Emily is thinking it might be best to split up.

Little Artist

Here comes the artist to start her day of work. Emily recently discovered how fun chalk can be on cement....

And on the stucco pillar. Let's hope she does not do this with markers on the house walls.

This is the view the walls have as Emily does her work.

Emily also branched out from sidewalk art to art that can be stuck to the refrigerator.

As she is only 15 months old, we still have to teach her that markers are for drawing and not for eating, even the flavored markers.
