Growing Up

As Faye gets older she continues to discover how to do new things.  She has learned how to roll back to stomach and then stomach to back.  This has given her a form of mobility that lets her get to things left on the floor that she wants.

Faye continues to gain strength through her "super baby" pose.

Growing babies need to eat a lot.  Of course, a lot means a little in the mouth and a whole bunch down the front.

Clothes

We recently went clothes shopping to get ready for the upcoming summer.  Emily had a great time.  When we returned home, Emily could not wait to take out all the clothes from the bags, ripe off all the tags, take the clothes off the hangers, and try them on, even if they were not her clothes.  Unfortunately, we did not get pictures of most of that, but we do have pictures of other clothes incidents.

Here we have Emily showing off a pair of her Nemo underwear. 

Since she does not have pockets in her underwear, Emily needed some place to put her toy keys.  We don't know where she learned this.

Emily found a pair of my socks.  Guess her feet were cold.

Brieann bought Emily a water and sand play stand.  Since we don't want a bunch of sand and water all over the house we put it outside.  Emily wanted to go outside and play so we let her.  We looked out a few minutes later and this is what we saw.

Emily even wanted to try on her swim float.  Hopefully she will want to wear it when it's time for "water" (her one word statement exclaiming that she wants to go either go swimming or go running through water fountains).

Since all is fair in love and war, (See post here) Mark won't mind me releasing these photos of him and the Emily counterparts to prove that his daughter might be more like him than he thinks...

Emily's New Camera

Brieann recently found a kids (3+ years old) camera for Emily.  Since she got the camera, Emily has become very fond of it.  She has not exactly learned how to use it, but she does know how to push all the buttons (all 5 of them).  Emily has taken many pictures, most of which are all black, white or fuzzy.  Some pictures you can actually make out what it is.  Here is Emily's portfolio for the last day...

"I'm ready for my closeup!" Emily has since learned which way to point the camera.

This is Emily's foot as she walks down the stairs.  Like I said, she knows how  to push all the buttons, she just has not learned when to push them.

Bet you can't guess what this is of.  Last night we put Emily's camera on her little table when she went to bed.  This morning I woke up the Emily standing next to our bed with the camera.  This is a picture of that table with a towel and a basket.  Once again Emily shows she knows how to push the buttons, even without picking up the camera.

Little Helper...Maybe

To help celebrate her mom on this Mother's Day, Emily wanted to help more by taking care of Faye. She figured that she could help by changing Faye's diaper. First you have to take off the diaper. Forget about taking off the pajamas, if you pull hard enough the diaper will come off.

Then you have to wipe to make sure she is all clean.

Then comes the clean diaper. Those things are harder to put on then you think.

Emily found that if Faye does not have her pajamas on, it is easier to position the clean diaper. Of course, getting the pajamas off is another easier said than done task. We video recorded Emily attempting to undress Faye and then put on a diaper, but we could not get the video to upload here.

Crazy Week

April was one crazy month.  Brieann's parent's stake did their annual Cub Scout Day Camp, which Rose was in charge of.  Brieann, always the helper, lent her artistic talents.  Of course Brieann can never go small (it's a Richards family thing), and she decided she wanted to make an old west town to go along with the theme of "The Wild West".  Of course when I heard her ideas, I knew I was going to be busy.
I somehow managed to convince Brieann not to have me make a building for each of the 6 dens.  I would only have to make 3 buildings, 6 hitching posts, 3 sign posts, and a few smaller decorations.

And the school house.  The bell was originally supposed to be in a bell tower on top, but we ran out of red paint (left over from previous home projects).  It was also too tall to put in Emily's playroom later by about 2", so it got cut off.

The jail even had real bars.

Faye was given a tour of the town on Grandma Richards hip.

Emily had a blast running around getting into things.  She even tried to join the flag football game that the boys were playing...

That is when she was not moving the cones that marked the boundaries.  At one point she decided that the cones should not have been left out.  She tried to help "clean up" by stacking them all together.
